My dear People of Yala 1 State Constituency, it been a long journey of mixed feelings of joy and laughter occasioned by the transition from military rule to Democracy in 1999; and that of sadness and suffering occasioned by the turnout of events. Nigeria as a Nation in its peregrinating state is going through turbulent times like many developing world. Abraham Lincoln would say in his letter to his Son’s teacher that the “teacher should treat his son gently but not cuddle him because it is the test of a fire that makes a fine steel”.
Therefore, rest assured that there is light at the end of the tunnel. America, the most referenced democracy in the world is over 230 years old, but still battling with humans and institutional development. However, she is a better nation today because citizens know who to entrust position of authority. Those they can trust, call, access; those readily available to share in their joy and worries alike. Plato would say if the good refuse to get involved in the process, they end up being ruled by the bad ones, though paraphrased.
Having assessed critically from our takeoff point to where we are as compared to where we ought to be, it has become a necessity that we get seriously involved. To achieve the Yala, Cross River, and Nigeria of our dream, we have resolved to get involved in order to get it done and done right. Hence, I enjoin my dear people of Yala 1 state Constituency to get involved so that we can collectively build that future we desire for ourselves and for the next generation.
Once again, HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATION.
LONG LIVE YALA1 STATE CONSTITUENCY
LONG LIVE CROSS RIVER STATE
LONG LIVE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
DR. PAUL EBIALA (ESQ) PDP CANDIDATE FOR YALA 1 STATE CONSTITUENCY.
