The Senator Representing Cross River North Senatorial District and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has arrived Westminster Magistrate Court, London ahead of the trial of former Nigerian deputy Senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and wife over alleged organ harvesting.
The delegation from the Nigerian Senate is led by the Chairman of senate committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa.
Ike Ekweremadu, 60, and Beatrice Nwanneka, 55, have been formally charged with alleged conspiracy to facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting, London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
They were taken into custody after an investigation by police, which had been alerted in May 2022 to potential offences under modern slavery legislation.
