The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, yesterday being 27th September, 2022, received some APC members of Yala origin resident in Abuja under the auspices of “Abuja Front of Unconquered Support Group”, in his National Assembly office, Abuja.
The Candidate of the PDP for Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency Election, Barr. Godwin Offiono aka Goffio, who led the group to the Senator’s office, briefed Senator Jarigbe of the group’s dedication, commitment and readiness to overwhelmingly support and work for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections. Barr. Goffio also informed the Senator of the group’s desire to drive the PDP projects with them to a logical conclusion, having seen their zeal and preparedness.
The leader of the group, Comr. Godsman Ogar, commended Sen. Jarigbe for his leadership sagacity, empathy, proven capacity and effective representation. He lauded the Senator for his selfless leadership and unmatched performance in Cross River North. Godsman formally introduced the group to the Senator and their readiness to mobilize support and votes for him, Barr. Goffio and the entire PDP Candidates.
According to him, during the voter’s registration exercise, the group massively mobilised for Permanent Voters Card registration and also transferred registered voters who were voting outside Yala, back home for the purpose of delivering unflinching support for PDP in 2023. “The group was the known APC structure in Abuja, but we’ve collapsed the structure to PDP, due to the high-handedness and gross leadership failure of the APC from top to bottom” Godsman added.
The Senator while reacting, thanked Barr. Godwin Offiono for his relentless effort in Yala and the entire senatorial district. He also commended the group for their steadfastness, courage and foresight. “The position I’m occupying today is for you. I’m holding it in trust for you. The office you’re seeing is our office. I’m occupying it for you. No one will stop you from coming here to see your office and the occupant (me).”
Speaking further, the Senator frowned at the weaponization of poverty in the name of “food on the table” appointment being perpetuated by the self-centered man in charge of our common patrimony in Cross River State. He informed that, food has never been the problem of the people of Cross River North. The few people in Cross River State Government that pride themselves around, intimidating our people, are mere errand boys being used as conduits to loot our Treasury. They award fake contracts to themselves, take the money from our Treasury, then go behind to return the money to their emperor and they’re settled with crumbs, this is what is going on in Cross River State and we can’t continue like that. Some of them still run to us to take the little we have for our people. There’s no comfort over there.
“We’ve done well for our people and that is why progressive minds like you are identifying with us so we can be encouraged to do more. Leadership is about the people. I have just one house in Abuja and one in Ogoja. I don’t believe in primitive acquisition of wealth that some people are practising in our state. We were brought up well to help humanity and we will not change now.”
“Barr. Goffio will do better in the House of Representatives for the good people of Ogoja/Yala. Let all of us work together to deliver him and other PDP candidates. There’ll be enough for all if we’re all elected in 2023” Sen. Jarigbe said.
