History was made Yesterday after the ongoing PDP campaign tour when the Candidate for Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, 2023 House of Representatives election, Barr. Godwin Offiono Offiono aka Goffio, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Mike Usibe at Gakuna Hotel, Igoli-Ogoja LGA with a view to talking over the post-primaries differences between them. In company of Goffio were his DG, John Naku , Rt. Hon. Mom Olom, Dr. Paul Ebiala , Dr. Martins Achadu , Elder Clement Obok and Madam Jane Eriba. Also present were Mr. Stephen Okpako and Mr. Saviour Omgbidu Saviour .
In his remarks, Barr. Goffio recounted the several unsuccessful efforts he had made to have audience with Hon. Usibe after the Primaries that produced him as the candidate. He then begged for forgiveness if he had offended him in any way and solicited his support in the forthcoming election. Barr. Goffio also told Hon. Usibe that, he didn’t work against him during the House of representatives by-election. He said he supported him and even went to the Collation Centre in Okpoma at night to monitor the situation.
In his response, Hon. Usibe recalled the couple of times in their political journey when Barr. Goffio did not support him, but stated that even though he had told a number of persons that he would not support him in his House of Reps bid, he has changed his mind due to the intervention of Distinguished Senators Sandy Onor and Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, coupled with the support Goffio’s elder brother, Prince Akwase, gave him during his Chairmanship bid several years ago.
It was a joyous moment, which was marked with toasts by all present, with firm commitments by both of them to work together for the victory of the party in 2023.
