2023 Annual Operational Plans: stakeholder Delibrate On Effective Framework For Health Awareness Year

In preparations for the 2023 health policies, implementation and sustainability framework, the Cross River State Government has held it’s Annual Operational Plans to seek ways of improving the state’s health sector and fostering better collaborations between the Government and it’s partners.
Declaring the meeting open, Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong called for innovative ideas and plans in order to help improve quality of care and services in the state health sector.

She said, except for a comprehensive plan, irrespective of the budget allocation and policies drafted, there would be poor implementation hence the desire for a value based plan which is workable between the Government, Partners and beneficiaries who are considered the most important entity in the pyramid.

She promised government’s full support in meeting it’s demands such as the timely and purposeful payment of counterpart funds, provision of a conducive working environment, security and protection of its partners and the collaborations towards gaining accurate data.

She appreciated all programme officers for all the great work they put in their various programmes and the success achieved so far, while thanking
UNICEF, WHO and other partners for their support in the state.

Also speaking, the Permanent secretary, State Ministry of Health, Dr Iwara Iwara encouraged all participants to be serious with the meeting and contribute as their inputs will help inform the plan. He assured everyone of the Ministry’s commitment to ensure every programme is well captured in the plan.

The Director General of the state health insurance agency, Chief Godwin Iyala reiterated his agency’s commitment to a successful planning meeting and will ensure programmes such as malaria is captured in the benefit package for clients.

The meeting had representatives from the Cross River State Ministry of Health, Cross River State Health insurance scheme, Cross River State Action committee on AIDs, the Cross River State House of Assembly, UNICEF and respective partners.
