Godwin Emefiele: The Nigerian Economic Hitman And His Long Walk To Golgotha
….By Umezulike Desmond-cruz.
I have no doubt this is unarguably, the beginning of the season of many troubles for the man under whose strangulating grip, our nation’s economy snowballed into a cesspool of mind-blowing absurdity. Under his watch, our economy witnessed an anticlockwise progression. We, the underprivileged many, bore the brunt of Emefiele’s many financial rascality and policy summersaults. Under his watch, he institutionalized himself as the arch-enemy of the common man. He fought against the enterprising spirit of young Nigerians. He slayed our hopes and aspirations, sending many back to the “trenches”. And while we, the underprivileged masses, wail and groan under his scourging policies, the real owners of this capitalist enterprise called Nigeria– at whose behest Emefiele ruled the CBN with an iron fist, feeding us with snakes and scorpions– brewed and stewed in luxury, affluence and opulence.
The arrest of the infamous erstwhile CBN henchman, reminds me of the book “Confessions of An Economic Hitman” written by a former American Chief Economist John Perkins and published in 2004. In his book, Perkins described the role he played in the economic colonization of 3rd World countries at the behest of a cabal of cooperations, banks and the United States Government. Perkins confessions futuristically, underscored the point I’m about to make here: No man can singlehandedly sabotage a nation’s economy without the passive or active connivance of the Government of the day or a cabalistic cooperation, and Godwin Emefiele’s case, isn’t an exception.
As CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele painstakingly and passionately worked for a gang of insatiable megalomaniacs and kleptomaniacs within the corridors of power. He became very powerful and arrogated more to himself, even against the dictates of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Under his watch, we were subjected to the most brazen display of economic sabotage. Nigerians traded Naira for Naira. To serve the interest of a few and for fear of financial decentralization, he unceremoniously placed a ban on Cryptocurrency trading in Nigeria, thereby stifling the innovative and enterprising spirit in many young Nigerians, yet hurriedly spent billions on his white elephant E-naira Wallet, that has experienced stillbirth. Under his watch, our Naira became more valueless in the Stock Market.
Like an undertaker, Emefiele was ready to bury all of us in perpetual penury, provided he was serving the interest of his cabalistic paymasters. He became so partisan that he forgot he wasn’t a politician, yet threw caution to the wind and dared to become one. He arrogantly aspired to become President to the same people he fed with economic snakes and scorpions. When he couldn’t have his way, Emefiele reactivated the hitman tendencies in him and fought tooth and nail alongside the cabals, to frustrate the 2023 general election, and more importantly, to sabotage the aspiration of the now-President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Unfortunately, Karma and the day of reckoning is here, Poor Emefiele is now on a long lonely walk to Golgotha. Though, he was only a pawn in the game, he has become the first casualty. In less than no time, the once powerful chubby-looking Emefiele, has become a shadow of himself, enervated, emasculated and gasping for breath and flesh. What a tragedy! yet only the beginning of his many troubles.
It’s my considered opinion at this juncture, that Godwin Emefiele undergo a tutorial class under former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, to ascertain how he was able to survive in prison under President Buhari Muhammadu. For this indeed, is going to be a long lonely walk to Golgotha. Unfortunately, while Jesus Christ took the walk to Golgotha and died for the sins of the masses, Brother Godwin Emefiele is on a walk to Golgotha to be crucified for his own sin against the Masses, and I honestly do not wish him well.
Dear Emefiele, welcome to renewed Hope, your own season of many troubles!
