…Higgins pledges N1 million annual support

The founder and CEO of Opal Group, notable Cross River State critical stakeholder and reputable political stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), High Chief Higgins Peters has received an award of excellence from the Students Union Government (SUG) of the prestigious University of Calabar (UNICAL).
This is just as the notable titled holder of Akpa Owo of Yala nation has pledged an annual sum of N1 million to support the Students Union Government of the institution to cater for critical academic needs of the students, which is part of his Students Trust Fund.

The award of honour to High Chief Higgins Peters was presented to him in Calabar in recognition of his “excellent leadership and dedication to the service of humanity and your contribution to human capital development and students affairs”.
Expressing his appreciation for the honour, the reputable leader and humanitarian par excellence thanked the UNICAL SUG leadership for the honour and that that the award will spirit him to continue to support students development and growth across the state.
The award from office of the Executive President, dated 9th June, 2023 was signed by Comrade Tyron Bassey outstanding led exco.
Some of the student union leaders preset include, Icha Godswill Ogar, NANS South South Reps, Awor Emmanuel Ekpor, Chairman SUG Award Committee 2023, Inah Simon, secretary SUG Award Committee and Nnafor Jefferson, member of the committee.
It would be recalled that High Chief Higgins was recently honoured by the leadership of the National Association of Yala Local Government Students (NAYLOGS WW) Worldwide recognition of his outstanding contribution towards the development of Yala LGA and growth of the association, where he committed an initial N2 million as Students Trust Fund to address school fees, accommodation and other education needs of Yala students.
