…Rejects fresh elections in both clans.
The Chiefs and people of Bashua/Abo clan in Boki local government area of Cross River State, are calling for the inauguration of their elected clan heads.
Bashua and Abo clans have warned against plans to cancel the already conducted election of 24th May, 2024, that produced Chief Albert Agbor Tiku as winner of Abo clan head election, and Chief Raphael A. Ogar as winner of Bashua clan head election.
In a document provided to the Eagles media, Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP Benedict Mfam (SID Boki) who monitored the said elections, presented a report and affirmed that elections were conducted in both Abo and Bashua clans.
Documents also show results of the elections from both clans. But it has become a thing of worry to the people of both clans that the elected chiefs have not being inauguration despite writing to the chairman of Boki traditional rulers council.
It has been alleged that some players in connivance with the police are planning to cancel the elections conducted one month ago to conduct another one and declare certain candidates winners, despite police report showing that elections were conducted and winners emerged.
It could be recall that the paramount ruler of Boki had called the Chairman of Boki traditional rulers council to assist him move the elections to Calabar for peace sake (video attached). Noting that the clan heads elections can’t be done outside of the clans, the chairman traditional rulers council instead sent people including officers of the Nigerian police force, the military, etc, to oversee the conduct of the elections. But the said paramount ruler is alleged to be denying ever calling the chairman of the traditional rulers council.
Also, according to information made available, a high court in Boki had issued an expertate order restraining the police or anyone from conducting another election, but it has also been alleged that the police and some interested people are attempting to disobey the court order, which may results to contempt.
The people of Bashua and Abo clans are calling on relevant authorities to advise all those involved to respect the will of the people and court order, for peace to continue to reign in both clans.
