
The Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) for Bekwarra Council, Mrs Angela Ugbut-Agboje has congratulated the people of Bekwarra LGA on the occasion of Ipem Ihihe 2024 celebration.
Mrs Ugbut-Agboje says the celebration which signifies the rich cultural heritage of the Bekwarra People marks the beginning of a new farming season – a season filled with hope, prosperity, and unity.
In a congratulatory message , she said it is with a great sense of respect that she extends her warmest greetings and best wishes to the Traditional Rulers Council and the entire Bekwarra People on this auspicious occasion of the 2024 IPEM IHIHE FESTIVAL.
“This celebration signifies the rich cultural heritage of the Bekwarra People and marks the beginning of a new farming season – a season filled with hope, prosperity, and unity.
“The essence of the festival is to express gratitude to God Almighty for the bountiful harvest and protection of lives. It is a miracle from God for a planted yam seedling to decay and produce big tuber or tubers for mankind to eat”.
Mr Agboje expressed thanks to God for bumper harvest and for being alive to celebrate the 2024 IPEM IHIHE as it provides an opportunity for the people to reinvigorate their cultural heritage and renew their love for one another.
She stressed the need for continuous peaceful coexistence among indigenes of Bekwarra communities for the sustainable peace and progress of the LGA.
“On this auspicious occasion, I pray for God’s continuous blessing on our artisans, businessmen, civil servants, farmers and Bekwarra people from different works of life’s; especially those who are interested in the peace and development of Bekwarra land. I urge you all to think home while investing your resources to embrace Governor Bassey Otu’s administration and Peoples First Agenda”.
Ipem Ihihe Festival in Bekwarra is an important way of marking the beginning and end of the farming season. It is a celebration of life, accomplishments in the community, culture and well-being.
